Overview
Meerkatsu and Tatami Fightwear have done it again! The new Honey Badger v2012 Rashguard as been in our hands for a while now, and we have been busy putting it through it's paces. Can the Bjj Gear Junkie handle the Honey Badger? Or will he be the one in the end not giving a shit? Read on Gear Junkies!
Fit
I'm 5'7" 165lbs and I got the Honey Badger Rashguard v2012 in a medium size. It fits and feels like a dream. I prefer my rashguards to fit tighter and become almost like another layer of skin, and that's exactly how it felt. I had no issues with the seam under the armpit thankfully. Sometimes when there is a seam under the armpit it can start to irritate the skin after training for a few hours. I still think it's safer for companies to try and make their design without the seam there because everyone has a different body type and seams always run the risk of being an irritation. I was also pleased with how the rashguard stayed tucked down inside my gi pants and did not ride up and show off my sexy belly.
Durability
The Honey Badger Fightwear v2012 Rashguard feels more durable than it's previous version. Thicker, more high quality, more...like my beloved Rupture rashguard, and that's a good thing! I've only had this product for a couple weeks at this point, but I've made it my goal to wear it and wash it as many times as I could to see if it holds up. So far it has held up just fine. With the HB RG v2012 I don't seem to have to worry too much about washing it with Velcro. I still try and avoid it when I can, but accidents do happen and it's nice to know that it will survive.
The Cool Factor
There are two cool factors for me when it comes to the HB v2012 Rashguard. First, the design is more my style this time around. It has a darker more grown up feel to it. Some may say that it's gone more mainstream with the black and red with blood, but honestly I think I would have liked it just as much without the blood. Meerkatsu did another great job with this design. The second cool factor is the way this Bjj rashguard feels. It's the closest so far out of all the rashguards I've tried to my favorite brand Rupture when I compare the two. It feels solid and well made and I don't worry about it every time I wash it.
