Overview
I stumbled across this Bjj Gi company by clicking on a Facebook ad believe it or not. At first I was wondering if this was a real company or not, so I shot them off a quick email asking what the dilly was and it turns out they are legit! After looking over the Gi my skin started to itch and I broke out in a sweat, the Junkie needed his fix! So I ended up doing the pre-order on the black version. Zombie Kimonos is a brand new start up company and this was their first line of Gi's. Since this one landed on my doorstep, they have already started pre-orders for version 2.0 and have a rashguard out as well. The future is looking bright for these guys, but how does their first model of Gi hold up? Read on Junkies!
The Fit
Right off the bat I'll tell you that the Zombie Kimonos 550 Gi does run a little on the big side. I'm 5'7 160ish I'd say average build. So if you are towards the small end of your size, I would go ahead and order a size smaller. Besides the over all size of the Gi everything else seemed to be perportioned pretty well. I did toss mine in the dryer a few times on high heat and it did shrink down some, but still not enough for my stumpy little arms. Other manly men may not have this problem.
The pants fit like a normal pair of A2 pants so it really seems like maybe just the top runs on the larger side. I would like to see maybe a bit more room in the knee area for things like butterfly guard and just open guard in general. Be sure to watch the video review on that for more details.

Durability
The durability section of this review is still pending. The Zombie Kimonos 550 Gi just came out so it's really hard to say if it's going to last for years and years. I will say this though, at this point I have enough Gi's to know when the quality is not where it should be, and I see no signs of that with this Gi. If I were to guess, I think it's not going to have any huge problems in the durability area. Things seem to be reinforced well in the important areas and the weave and material seem to be of good quality. It also has a nice collar.
The Cool Factor
It's a freakin Zombie Kimono! Is that not cool enough for you?! Other than the over all look and style of the Gi I would say that the cool factor is the extra details put into the overall design. The contrasting stitching and belt loops really make things pop. I also like how there is one version of the logo running down one side of the sleeve and a totally different one on the other. Be sure to check out the video review for more details. I talk better than I write.
UPDATE
Because of this review, Zombie Kimonos sat down and reworked their pants. They now claim they have fixed the issue that I addressed in the review, and thank everyone for their help and feedback. You can also visit their website to read other customer reviews.
